Villa Il Pozzo, Tuscany

Some places do not need to try. Villa Il Pozzo sits in the rolling hills of Tuscany and simply lets the valleys do the talking, one soft ridge after another until the land has nothing left to show. Lyndsey and Dom came from the UK to spend a wedding weekend here, and the villa made it easy to slow down.

It began with pizza. A classic Italian pizza party for the welcome dinner, unhurried and exactly the right way to let a wedding weekend arrive. The wedding day then moved outdoors and stayed there, drifting from spot to spot as the villa offered them. The ceremony took place on a terrace where the view did the framing and generous flower pieces did the rest, led by a dear friend of the couple, which made every word sound personal.

Dinner was served al fresco, under a dress code that suited the setting: summer garden party, romantic, floral. The speeches from parents and friends were the kind that quiet a table and then warm it. After that, only one plan was left, and they kept to it. They danced deep into the night.
