Schoenau Castle, Austria
Nazanin and Fredi married at Schoenau Castle, a half-timbered house with a long history of its own, set in a park of old trees and a quiet pond, with an olive tree standing by the wall as if it had been waiting for them. For two people with roots in the Netherlands, Austria and Persia, it was hard to imagine a better place to bring everything together.
The day began slowly, with getting ready in bright rooms and a first look by the lake. The ceremony took place outdoors, between white chairs and tall trees, and carried traditions from both cultures. Afterwards the guests gathered in the courtyard for aperitivo, and dinner followed al fresco at long tables under string lights, in a courtyard that felt more Mediterranean than Austrian.
There were tears, there was a lot of laughing, and once the cake was cut the dance floor filled and hardly emptied again. A party to seek its equal.
